In 2005 some of us, already members of Cantina Orsogna, embraced the idea of conducting vineyards according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture and sharing the importance of safeguarding territory, experiences, families and traditions.
We are all descendants of winemakers for at least three generations; ours is a community of small family farms.
Today our biodynamic vineyard area is 360 hectares in a particularly windy foothill area with a microclimate that allows us to reduce the use of pesticides and invasive treatments.
The World Biodynamic Conference held in spring 2018 in San Francisco recognized us as the largest Demeter-certified biodynamic grape community in the world.
The orange cord that connects us is the life force and energy that nourishes our soils, a cosmic force that emanates from the horns we cyclically bury and dig up, feeds the rhythms of our organic microcosm and is found in our wines, pure expressions of a healthy and living terroir.
The families constantly work hard to experience biodynamics not only as an agricultural method, but as an ethical opportunity to live in harmony with nature.
The Demeter brand, a guarantee of a double certification
All of our operations undergo a strict verification process certified by the international DEMETER brand from agricultural production, to vinification, to the marketing of our products. The Demeter brand (goddess of fertility and the earth) is an additional certification to that already provided by organic farming (in fact, biodynamic farms are also obligatorily organic).
In the biography of our wines is the entire heritage of our territory: a concatenation of experiences, dreams, ambitions, aspirations and hopes, collective and individual stories, organoleptic contents, values, ideals, projects and innovations.
The focus on naturalness
Our wines are characterized by:
– spontaneous fermentation
– the natural tartaric stabilization
– low sulfite content.
A distinctive feature of our bottles is the rope binding of the cork
We manually apply, bottle by bottle, an orange cord (the color of biodynamics) to close our bottles, according to an ancient peasant practice handed down from our grandparents. For us, it is both a symbol of a bond with the land and its tradition and a substitute seal for capsules (sensitive to the issue of pollution of the seas, we want to help reduce the use of plastic, which is why since 2013 we have banned the use of capsules in our bottling processes).
We are pioneers by nature
We carry on our work from a sustainable perspective, offering innovative products in step with market trends, never forgetting the primary goal of protecting ourselves, our families, our consumers and the environment in which we live.
An award-winning biodynamic wine
We boast a rich medal collection with major awards in national and international competitions where our wines are often tasted blind alongside conventional wines.
