The wine I would like to present today is part of a line produced by Torri Cantine, a certified organic company in Torano Nuovo, in the province of Teramo which for more than fifty years has had about 60 hectares of vineyards.
It is located at an excellent altitude and beautifully exposed to south-south/east.
The philosophy of this company has always been that of producing quality wine, regardless of how it is offered for sale and with this line and thanks also to the painstakingly selected partners in Italy who could therefore respect the same minimum production standards, wanted to create a product that is easy to choose and appreciate, but above all that best expresses the origin and territoriality.
Hence the birth of the organic line With Love, good national and international single grape varieties and accessible to all budgets and therefore also aimed at a young public who knows how to appreciate a good wine, the practicality of a very quick opening and also the witty and amusing labels conceived and designed by the Abruzzo artist Riccardo Di Virgilio Mambella.
But let’s get to today’s wine, a 2021 IGT pecorino of 13 degrees the result of a harvest from the 1st decade of September vinified and aged in steel.
As you can see, opening is very simple thanks to the screw cap, the Stelvin type.
It does not require a corkscrew and it is also very easy to close the bottle again even though we all know very well that once the air has entered subsequent closures will never be completely reliable and the bottle, like any open bottle should be consumed as soon as possible.
For wines like those of this line that is young, linear, sometimes aromatic and perfect to be tasted immediately or in any case in a short period of time, this particularly hermetic closure is ideal for preserving the state of affairs and avoiding problems such as the smell of cork, which concerns the cork oak.
The extraordinary label in the play on words you will recognize it immediately, Pecorino and broad beans shaking hands
Colour: a Pecorino with a bright straw yellow color and an adequate consistency.
Smell: nice intensity on the nose with a nice fruitiness of apple, pear, peach with yellow flesh, wild flowers and also a delicate herbaceous note.
Taste: a wine dry, fresh, attenuated by a delicate warmth and perfect softness. The taste is in line with the sense of smell and is enriched by a magnificent citrus note
A wine to be served cold, 6-8 °C with the classic white wine glass.
It is perfect for aperitifs, appetizers, with fish, with vegetarian dishes but also white meats and fresh or medium-aged cheeses. I want to imagine it with a seafood salad, a zucchini risotto, a duck breast with baked potatoes or a fresh or semi-seasoned “caciotta” from Abruzzo.
