“For me, wine is the source of everything. Of pleasure… certainly. But also of opening up to the world, of craftsmanship integrity, and respect for a noble territory that evokes pure emotion. When I opened my first winery, the joy of realizing my dream was second only to the desire to share those sensations that only Irpinia can bestow.” – Luciano Ercolino
In these places, the great winemaking tradition has remained intact, and where the respect for the characteristics of the territory, the production process, and the work of man represent an authentic journey through the excellence of wine, which is above all a family vocation. This is what happens at Vinosia agricultural company, founded by Francesco, who saw the perfect place to realize his dream right in the heart of Irpinia. A dream continued by his grandson Luciano Ercolino, the current owner of the company. A proud heir to that peasant culture and coming from pioneering and established experiences in the industry, he established the company as it is today in 2004, identifying quality production, the enhancement of its own history, experience, specificity, and cultural refinement as its core values.
The winery, conceived by Luciano and designed by architect Alessandro Di Blasi, located in the municipality of Paternopoli, is founded on the belief that wine will largely remain tied to the local territory and responds to the need to strengthen the relationship between wine culture and global environmental sustainability. This connection, linked to the growing interest in the concept of “terroir,” is the central expression of the relationship between wine and the land, a sentiment cherished by Luigi Veronelli.
The winery looks at the territory not only through its structure, carved into the hillside, which becomes an integral part of the landscape to the extent that it appears natural, but also by paying equal attention to ancient grape varieties, unique places of Irpinia, and embracing the challenge of modern times through tools that embrace the most advanced technologies in the cellar, energy-saving practices, waste treatment, and CO2 emissions (saving about 60 tons of CO2 per year). All the skilled artisans and employees who care for the company agree with Luciano Ercolino that “for a respectable wine enthusiast, product quality and environmental quality are now two inseparable aspects of quality of life.” Luciano Ercolino is deeply aware and committed to certifying the characteristics of his products and production processes, not only to industry professionals but to all potential consumers who desire to be informed and assured.
In the cellar, the wine rests and evolves, and high-quality wood plays a role in that science known as aging, which is actually a combination of various factors that facilitate meticulous micro-oxygenation. It’s no coincidence that the cellar is excavated several meters underground, to provide a natural microclimate for the most crucial stages in the wine’s evolution, thanks to the French oak barrels from SEGUIN MOREAU.
Each bottle encapsulates multiple stories. The story of Campanian grape varieties, deeply rooted in the understanding of the land’s secrets and the rhythms of nature. The tale of sustainable production that enhances the remarkable properties and sensory uniqueness of the grapes. The story of skilled gestures, which in this land have always accompanied the slow flow of time. The story of a man with peasant origins who has made Irpinian wine his way of life. And who still considers himself an indefatigable apprentice.
