Italian-made rosé wines are gaining traction in the international market and are recognized as one of the most versatile wines, able to accompany everything from meat to fish dishes.
The journey to explore Italian rosé wine starts from Lombardy. The wines worth exploring are Rosagreen Valtanenesi Chiaretto Biologio and Valtanenesi Chiaretto, which are located on the banks of the Garda River. Two wineries from Pasini San Giovanni Top tier rosé.
Rosagreen is a single rosé version of the native grape variety Groppello, which fully reflects the respect for the Valtènesi DOC appellation. The Groppello vineyard of less than one hectare is organically grown on the bay near Soiano.
The Valtènesi Chiaretto wine is in the long river of love between the single son Duchess Amalia Brunati and the Venetian Senator Pompeo Molmenti. The wine must be in contact with the skins of the local red grapes for several hours, followed by night pouring and gentle pressing to impart flavor and aromas to the grapes.
The marriage of two illustrious lovers brought Senator Mormenti to the Brunati estate in Valtènesi in 1885, and during his travels in France his passion for cutting-edge viticulture and rosé winemaking led him, in 1896, to the Brunati estate in Valtènesi. Moniga invented the production method of Chiaretto wine.
It is at this moment, guided by the genius of the cellar, that Chiaretto makes the freshness and temperament of the Groppello grape the determining factor of its quality. Delicious and fruity in its youth, after a few years the wine develops harmony, elegance and complexity.
Valtènesi rosé wines are born from the unique microclimate overlooking Lake Garda. Thanks to the quality grapes of Groppello, Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese grown in Raffa, you get this wonderful rosé wine, which impresses the most with its intense floral aromas, outstanding and persistent coolness Spend.
Continuing east, we’ll reach Veneto, where there’s a new wine with a catchy name too: Y, produced by Pasqua Vineyards and Winery, christens the newborn of the rosé family.
In the name chosen for this wine, representing the synthesis of origin and its qualities, symbolizing the balance between three vines, two of which are indigenous: the red grape variety Corvina from the Bardolino area , and Trebbiano di Lugana, a white grape variety from the Sirmione region, plus an international grape, Carmenère, which is hard to find in this part of Italy.
Head south to Molise, where Tintilia dominates the panorama of the rosé region. Come and try the Molise Doc Rosato Colle Quinto del 2019 from Claudio Cipressi Winery.
The winery is located in San Felice del Molise, in the province of Campobasso, in an area characterized by an agricultural landscape and a rich natural heritage.
This is a unique rosé wine, extremely refined and elegant. Made from Tintilia grapes, this wine has a clear bright pink color with a soft coral sheen. This wine exudes intense floral and fruity aromas, with aromas of ripe small fruits and red berries. On the palate it is pleasantly fresh, aromatic, balanced and with good persistence. It goes well with dishes prepared with light and well-structured seafood ingredients, but it is also ideal as an aperitif and during dinner it will be an ideal companion to many dishes.
