Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOCG Riserva of the Turan line of Cantine Torri originates in the areas of Colonnella and Controguerra in the province of Teramo, in a magnificent vineyard cultivated in rows aged over 40 years and located at 290 meters above sea level and with a perfect south / south-East exposure.
It is produced with 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes, from a late harvest during the last ten days of October with rigorous manual selection of certified organic farming.
The wine ferments in temperature-controlled steel vats and, once the malolactic fermentation is complete, it is aged in barriques used for no less than 18 months and then refined in the bottle for another year.
Let’s taste it.
A typical impenetrable ruby red with slight garnet reflections in the rim of the glass that introduces vigorous floral notes, dried fruit, coffee, cocoa in a silky, toasted fragrance.
A warm and soft taste of undergrowth, ripe blackberry, spices, vanilla, black pepper and licorice in balanced harmony with a delicately bittering freshness of soft tannins.
A persistent finish with delicate tobacco references.
It is a very good wine, to drink at 18-20 °c but also slightly more and only after waiting a few minutes after opening before pouring it into the glass.
It is a wine to drink in moments of reflection but also combining it with important dishes, imagine for example a carpaccio with parmesan flakes, “maltagliati” with meat sauce, fillet in crust or pepper, grilled seasonal vegetables or with semi-mature or seasoned cheeses.
